ITC Will Monitor China'S Textile And Clothing Imports

According to the request of the US House of Representatives Committee on methods and means, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) will monitor some Chinese textiles and clothing imports.

ITC will provide the Committee with a report on the import volume, import value, unit price and market share of the textiles and clothing products for two weeks. The products under surveillance are the products listed in the memorandum of understanding on textiles trade between the US and China in the end of 2005.

The committee said that the reason why China's imports should be monitored was that China's textile and clothing imports poured into the US market after the December memorandum of understanding.

The Commission pointed out that China's textile and clothing exports to the United States had increased significantly after the 2005 import and export restrictions on WTO textile and clothing agreements ended.

According to the request, ITC (independent independent party and federal agency seeking to do practical work) will submit its first report to the Committee on 1 December 2008.

The report will provide a summary of historical data, including import volume, amount, unit price and market share from January 1, 2003 to last month.

Next, ITC will provide the Committee with a two week report.

ITC will also issue annual data summary report.

The monitoring work of ITC will be carried out according to the import survey of China's textile garments.
