Taiwan Is Still The Largest Supplier Of Raw Materials For Vietnamese Footwear.

In recent years, Taiwan is still the largest supplier of raw materials for Vietnamese footwear.

In August, Taiwan exported $28 million 200 thousand of shoes to Vietnam, and its export revenue in the first 8 months of this year was $285 million.

During this period, Vietnam supplied 31.15% of Taiwan's total shoe imports from all markets.

Of all the raw materials, Vietnamese canvas made from Taiwan made the most stable growth, which has been growing strongly for 10 consecutive months.

In the 1-8 months of 2006, Vietnam's total imports of shoes and canvas from Taiwan amounted to US $71 million, an increase of 39.29% over the same period last year.

However, the import of most other footwear materials from Taiwan has seen a sharp rise or decline, especially leather and soles, but synthetic leather (up 20.21%), trademarks and shoelaces are excluded.

In the first 8 months of this year, Vietnam's imports of leather shoes from Taiwan amounted to US $113 million, down 3.94% from the same period last year.

However, the import of leather shoes from South Korea and Hongkong increased by 64% and 52% respectively.

The import of shoe sole is similar, the import amount is only 8.2%, down 41.5% compared with the same period last year.

It is worth mentioning that the vast majority of raw materials imported from Taiwan are more competitive than those imported from South Korea, Hongkong, Thailand, mainland China and Japan.
