This evening, the commemorative exhibition of Chinese immigrants to Peru 160th Anniversary opened in Peru Pavilion. The exhibition commemorating the 160 years of the first Chinese immigrants to Peru in the mid nineteenth Century, in the form of documents, photographs and prints. Harold Forsyih, Ambassador of Peru to China, attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition and delivered a speech.


Harold Forsyih said that in the middle of nineteenth Century, a group of Chinese came to Peru to intermarry with the local people, set up a family and take root in Peru. Since then, the spirit of diligent and friendly Chinese people has been extended on the land of Peru, and the two peoples have begun to forge deep friendship. Since 1874, a series of trade and navigation treaties have been signed between China and the United States. At present, among all the Latin American countries, Peru has the largest proportion of Chinese Americans. Over the past 100 years, the friendship between the two peoples has gradually deepened and they will jointly look forward to a bright future. Harold Forsyih said that World Expo, Shanghai is a grand exposition. Peru Pavilion will take the east wind to show Latin American folk customs, spread the traditional culture of Peru, and enhance the traditional friendship between the two sides.


It is reported that the documents displayed in the exhibition are selected from more than 100 precious original collection materials, including maps, pictures of the times, documents of the first secret treaty and other diplomatic pictures, incorporating many precious historical photographs and documents, showing the life process of Chinese immigrants, and showing the generation friendly relationship between the two countries.


In the last part of the exhibition, you can see some pictures of the Peru Chinese community. Statistics show that since the Chinese came to Peru, many of the traditional cultures originated from Guangdong and its surrounding areas have been developed here, and Peru's diet has become diversified. In the restaurant of the Peru Pavilion, there are Chinese and Peru flavored dishes - onion, tomato, potato, fried steak, and Peru's national wine "Pixar", which shows different American customs.
