John balde, executive director of the manufacturers association, pointed out that the South African government should elaborate on such trade and industrial policies, which should be able to create an equal competition environment for South African clothing manufacturers and compete with mainland Chinese competitors.

Balde made the comments at a seminar organized by the International Labour Organization.

The clothing industry is an important industry for South Africa, because the garment industry is not only a job creation.

Industry

It also plays a key role in the country's efforts to shake off poverty.

Therefore, there should be an equal competition environment between domestic manufacturers and their Chinese competitors.

In addition, customs fraud should be immediately controlled, in order to allow the apparel sector to compete at the global level.

Over the past few years, fierce debates on China's current policies have been carried out, especially in the US and Europe.

The people's Bank of China keeps the renminbi at a low level, aiming to boost export prosperity.

This practice is artificially keeping the currency in a low position, giving more competitive power to the goods and services of the country, and has a negative impact on other exporters and local manufacturers.

Therefore, in this regard, the global community should take measures to oppose China's change.

Policy, balde stressed.

Balde said that the government should take substantive measures to oppose unreasonable policies, which proved to be a threat to the survival of the clothing industry in South Africa.

Supplement:

According to the Jiangyin inspection and Quarantine Bureau, from 1 to June this year, it received 23 thousand and 400 batches of textiles and clothing for inspection and inspection, with a total value of $619 million.

Among them, the export garments are 17 thousand and 800 batches, the value of goods is 459 million dollars, and the 5614 batch of export textiles is 161 million dollars.

Compared with the same period last year, the volume and value of export garments increased by 18% and 23% respectively, and the batch and value of export textiles increased by 19% and 33% respectively.

In recent years, with the rapid rise of raw material prices and labor costs and the gradual saturation of the European and American markets, the export growth rate of textile and clothing products has gradually slowed down, unchanged or even negative.

After more than 10 years of sustained growth, Jiangyin's textile and clothing exports also suffered negative growth in 2009.

In the first half of 2010, in the context of global economic recovery and relatively stable raw material prices, the volume of exports in Jiangyin increased considerably compared with the low level in 2009. However, the industry analysis shows that this resumption of growth is not sustainable.

After the restart of the reform, the RMB appreciation expectation is further enhanced, and the rising cost will seriously squeeze the profitability of the export enterprises. The low cost advantage of the Jiangyin textile and garment enterprises in the triangle area has gradually disappeared, and the adjustment of product structure has a long way to go.
