Using clothing to convey Chinese culture to the world

Wu Haiyan is now a professor at the school of design, The China Academy of Art. She has been engaged in fashion design for 17 years, and the rich elements of Chinese culture in her design are the characteristics of her works.

"How does Chinese dress create its own characteristics, and how to embody the beauty of" Oriental "women in dress design, and how the dress with Chinese cultural characteristics really goes to the world is what I have been studying all these years.

As soon as I met, Wu Haiyan told reporters about her thinking in recent years.

In Wu Haiyan's view, China's clothing should have its own characteristics and brand, which can embody the long history and brilliant culture of China and create a unique image of the Chinese in the world.

The promotion of "Chinese dress" has become an attempt of her research on Chinese fashion patterns for many years.

The initial reason for the design, practice, thinking and exploration of Chinese cultural clothing is the shock of Chinese culture brought to her mind by a trip to Dunhuang at the third year.

"When I went to Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang in 1983, I saw the magnificent ancient Dunhuang frescoes. The greatness of Chinese culture shocked me greatly."

Wu Haiyan told reporters that after 10 years in Dunhuang, she has been thinking about how to pass China's profound culture to the world through clothing.

In 1993, inspired by the inspiration of Dunhuang trip, she blended the aesthetic elements of classical and modern elements, and the design of "heyday" became her successful attempt. Since then, she has been trying to add traditional cultural elements to clothing, using various forms of dress design to embody the beauty of Oriental people, and to show the charm of Chinese culture to the world.

Embody Chinese women's beauty with "elegant" cultural elements

Wu Haiyan told reporters that she is now working with the National Silk Museum of China to explore a subject. What kind of clothes can embody the beauty of Chinese women and dress Chinese women on the world stage with their own characteristics.

"One side of the people who live in water and soil, we have rich Chinese culture, so Chinese clothing should be beautiful and elegant."

Wu Haiyan said.

In Wu Haiyan's eyes, clothing is also a reflection of Chinese multiculturalism, but the most classical embodiment of Chinese culture is "elegance".

Wu Xiaoyan said that ya can be elegant, elegant and elegant. In the past, Chinese traditional court culture and scholar bureaucrat culture embodied the unique and elegant culture of China.

Wu Xiaoyan believes that "elegance is a kind of implicit beauty." the characteristics of Chinese women are implicit from ancient times to the present. The creation of Chinese women's beauty should be from inside to outside, and the "elegance" element of clothing can embody the beauty of Oriental people. The image of Chinese women must be "elegant" culture in China.

How to add "elegance" elements to modern fashion design? Wu Xiaoyan said, "I combine traditional and contemporary elements, such as the wedding dress I designed for many young people, using auspicious language and patterns, and flower patterns to blend traditional Chinese auspicious culture into costume. Many young people love it."

"With the development of China and the progressive development of civilization, clothing is also constantly improving. Today's elegant culture is reflected in the clothing is to protect the characteristics of traditional clothing, to join the current fashion elements, and ultimately embodies the characteristics of the Chinese nation's elegant culture."

Wu Haiyan said.

Using silk culture to promote clothing with Chinese culture

After years of research on Chinese clothing, Wu Haiyan said: "Silk contains deep Chinese culture. Nowadays, many famous international brands are made of silk, and silk brands should be set up to popularize Chinese culture in the costumes.

"Silk is one of the important fabrics in my costume design, and the soft and elegant silk quality is also in line with Chinese characteristics."

Wu Haiyan told reporters that she is now working with the Chinese silk museum to activate the design of silk to conform to the contemporary temperament.

Wu Haiyan said, "I think that silk needs not only protection, inheritance, but also innovation. I now design and use traditional silk craft embroidery to design ancient Chinese paper cutting techniques with embroidery."

In addition, Wu Haiyan told reporters that she is now working with silk enterprises in Zhejiang, hoping to contribute to the development of Zhejiang's silk industry through her own design.

Wu Haiyan said that now Zhejiang has made efforts in cultivating silk design talents in Colleges and universities. In the silk design of Zhejiang, Zhejiang's Silk Fair and costume design association have exchanged silk culture to draw more experience for silk design.

"In the clothing industry, silk retraining requires designers to practice. Now many people buy International Fabrics, clothing and accessories, but we need to have clothing with Chinese culture characteristics and their own brands.

Only through clothing can we promote Chinese culture.

Wu Xiaoyan said.
