According to the latest statistics of customs, the total value of import and export trade of Guangdong in 2008 1~4 was 207 billion 380 million US dollars, up 14% from the same period last year (below the same level), which is lower than the 24.4% growth rate of the whole country, accounting for 26.2% of the total import and export value of the whole country.

In the 1~4 months of this year, Guangdong exported 119 billion 630 million US dollars, an increase of 15.1%, which is lower than the 21.5% growth rate of the national export, accounting for 28.2% of the total export value of the country, and imports of US $87 billion 750 million, an increase of 12.6%, lower than the 27.9% growth rate of the national import, accounting for 23.9% of the total import value of the country.

In 2008 1~4, Guangdong achieved a surplus of 31 billion 880 million US dollars in foreign trade.

In April, the total value of Guangdong's imports and exports was 57 billion 440 million US dollars, an increase of 13.8%, lower than the 23.9% growth rate of the whole country, accounting for 26% of the total import and export value of the whole country.

Among them, exports amounted to 32 billion 900 million US dollars, an increase of 13.2%, lower than the national export growth rate of 21.8%, accounting for 27.7% of the total national exports; imports of 24 billion 540 million US dollars, an increase of 14.6%, lower than the national 26.3% growth rate of imports, accounting for 24.1% of the country's total imports.

The above data show that Guangdong's largest foreign trade province, the growth rate of foreign trade has slowed down significantly.

Affected by the revaluation of the renminbi, the adjustment of export rebates and processing trade policies, the rising cost of labor and the multiple factors of the American subprime mortgage crisis, Guangdong's foreign trade is facing unprecedented challenges this year. Some labor-intensive factories of traditional export products such as toys, clothing, shoes and so on have been closed down.

Wang Yang, Secretary of the Guangdong provincial Party committee, mentioned in this year's Guangdong province's "going out" risk management special issue that the degree of opening to the outside world is high and the export oriented economy is the most prominent advantage of Guangdong.

At the same time, how to solve the problem that the industry is still at the low end of international division of labor, export-oriented economy and industry and economic links in the province are not enough.

Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Department of foreign trade and economic cooperation and the Hongkong Special Administrative Region Government's Guangdong Economic and Trade Office jointly organized nearly 200 Guangdong enterprises for training, using Hongkong's experience in brand design, development and promotion to help Guangdong brand "go out".

In an interview with the first financial daily, the director of the Hongkong Special Administrative Region Government's Guangdong Economic and Trade Office said that enterprises in the Pearl River Delta started at the beginning of foreign trade orders. After years of development, they have reached a certain level in terms of process design and production level. However, many enterprises mainly focus on OEM processing, lack of experience in establishing sales channels and building brands, and are not as good as those in the Yangtze River Delta.

"However, Guangdong can take advantage of Hongkong's platform to break through.

Guangdong enterprises should cooperate with the state to encourage enterprises to innovate independently and "go out", and make use of mature service industries in Hongkong, such as design, advertising, marketing, exhibition, etc., to create brand for their enterprises and products, and be ready to enter the international market.

Liang Bai Ren said.

Liang also pointed out that this year's cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong has entered a critical moment. In summing up the experience of cooperation in the past 30 years, we will plan a new blueprint for cooperation in the next 30 years.

Since the reform and opening up, Guangdong has successfully undertaken Hongkong's industrial pfer and developed into a manufacturing province. However, the level of modern service industry in Guangdong has failed to provide strong support for the second industry, thus restricting its development.

How to play the advantages of Guangdong and Hong Kong on the existing basis to enhance the added value of Guangdong products and further promote international trade will be one of the key points of cooperation between the two places in the future.
