China Silk Embroidery Art Exhibition Opens In London

Chinese ambassador to the United Kingdom Liu Xiaoming, Prince Andrew of the Duke of York, the vice chairman of the China Silk Association, and Zheng Guiquan, chairman of the Chinese cognate company, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

More than 100 people from British government, businessmen, cultural circles and charitable organizations, representatives of Chinese funded institutions and overseas Chinese were present.

Among them, the notable artists include the Tang Dynasty painters Zhou Hua's "hairpin flower map" and the masterpiece of the French impressionist Monet, "water lily". The former uses the embroidery technique of one of the four famous embroideries in China, which embodies the characteristics of flat, neat, fine, dense, smooth, harmonious and light. The latter shows the rich lines and changeable colors in oil painting with the technique of disorderly embroidery.

The exhibition is mainly divided into two parts: "Chinese silk history and culture" and "Chinese silk and embroidery exhibits".
