Chilean Footwear Association Says 80% Of Imported Shoes Come From China.

In 2008, Chile imported 67,86 million pairs of shoes, an increase of 5.93% compared with the same period last year, and the volume of imports increased by 19.73% to 497 million US dollars.

The news came from the Chilean shoemaking Association. The association said that 80% of imported shoes came from China, and the average price of each pair of shoes increased by 12.6% over the same period last year.

The main importers of shoes in Chile are Forus, Bata and Nike (Chile).
