Nike Releases Sustainable Design Guide: Announces Ten Principles For Product Recycling
To help enterprises achieve sustainable development goals, the sporting goods giant Nike (Nike) recently released a Circularity: Guidingthe Future of Design designed to recycle materials.
The guidelines provide ten guidelines for product recycling design, including raw materials, renewability, waste reduction, biodegradability, green chemistry, refurbishment, flexibility, durability, regenerative packaging and business model innovation. The aim is to help industry promote the standardization and standardization of sustainable supply chain.
The drafting and examination of this guide was completed by the students at the central Saint Martin Institute in London, England, and by Samuel Ross, founder of A-Cold-Wall.
It is reported that any enterprise or individual can download the guide on Nikecirculardesign's official website and watch Nike employees' conversation video on the ten criteria.
There are also some interesting questions, such as: "in order to improve the practicality of recycling, how will you optimize the selection of raw materials, or talk about the degradation of specific fabrics or footwear products?"
Nike John Hoke, chief design officer, said: "we invite creative teams from all over the world to take part in it.
We hope to build a general language so that everyone can communicate effectively. "
The guide will also give products in Nike and other brand products in each guideline. These products meet at least one of the criteria, thus helping enterprises and designers to understand better.
Nike Noel Kinder, chief sustainability officer, said: "these cases are not only for complements, but also for more people to work together.
"Open source" is the core concept of this guide. Only by allowing more people to participate in it and providing advice can we achieve the desired results.
He added: "these historical cases of consumer testing can help designers to be more careful when choosing fabrics.
Enterprises and brands can also evaluate the recycling performance of fabrics according to these criteria.
Nike has been practicing the design concept of sustainable development.
Nike's Flyknit series is a good example of the company's efforts in material sustainability. NoelKinder said: "Flyknit series of upper are made of recycled polyester yarn.
Sustainability is inseparable from innovation. While pursuing sustainability, we must also ensure that materials perform well in terms of performance.
It is reported that Nike will also cooperate with a car manufacturer to produce cushioning cushions on the occasion of the 25th anniversary birth of Nike Grind.
Last year, Nike signed a Make Fashion Circular environmental protection initiative with brands such as H&M, Burberry and Gap. It also entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with NPO Global Fashion Agenda to promote the sustainable development of the fashion industry.
