Indonesia Will Implement Temporary Defense Measures Against Imported Fabrics

Indonesia previously filed a defense investigation on imported fabrics on September 18 of this (2019), and the product range includes five categories of cotton cloth, long fiber cloth, short fiber cloth, special cloth, knitting cloth, and a total of 107 tariff lines (as follows).

On November 5 this year, Indonesia submitted a report to the World Trade Organization (WTO) Notice: Due to serious damage to the domestic industry caused by increased imports, temporary defense measures of IDR11535 per kilogram of germ cloth and IDR32134 per kilogram of finished cloth will be implemented for these transferred products (five categories, 107 8-digit tax code products) for 200 days, and will take effect after the announcement of the decree of the Minister of Finance of Indonesia, which will be published in the official gazette. In 2018, the main source countries of Indonesia's imports of the products in this case were China (67.86%), South Korea (11.07%), Hong Kong (6.76%) and Taiwan (5.65%). China's products were not included in the list of excluded temporary defense measures.
