Kuraray Co., Ltd. in Japan held the commissioning ceremony of the newly upgraded polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber plant on December 4. The company invested 2 million yen to expand the annual output of its Okayama plant by 5000 tons. Now, the annual output of this factory is 40000 tons.

Outside China, Kuraray is the world's largest supplier of PVA fibers with a market share of 80%.

The expansion of the plant has allowed Kuraray to expand its business to meet demand and expand the production of high strength synthetic polyvinyl alcohol fiber products, which are beginning to be used in non manufactured fabrics, fiber reinforced cement, rubber materials and paper.
