"Changci" Cargo Ship Returns To Suez Canal

According to Russian satellite network, a source from GAC, a shipping service company, said the "Changci" container ship finally left the Suez Canal in July after being detained for several months. On August 20 local time, evergiven returned to the Suez Canal, which was escorted by two tugboats and professional pilots. This is also the first time that "Changci", which ran aground in the Suez Canal in March this year, blocked the river and caused traffic congestion. It is also the 22nd time that the ship has passed through the Suez Canal.

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) said in a press release that "Changci" sailed from Britain to mainland China. Under the guidance of two tugboats and professional pilots, the "Changci" successfully passed through the 193 km long Suez Canal and entered the Red Sea from the Mediterranean Sea. At the same time, 26 ships were sailing in the same direction (from north to South) and 36 ships were sailing in the opposite direction (from south to North), SCA said, calling the Suez Canal "the shortest and fastest route connecting East and West."

On March 23, the freighter "Changci" ran aground on the Suez Canal and seriously blocked the river course for the next six days. According to statistics, about 450 ships were blocked in the Suez canal due to the grounding accident.

On April 13, local time, an Egyptian court approved the Suez Canal Authority's application to formally detain the "Changci". Since then, the shipowner of "Changci" has held several negotiations with the Suez Canal Authority on the amount of compensation and the cause of the accident. Finally, the two sides reached a compensation agreement. The "Changci" sailed out of the Suez Canal on July 7. After that, they successively docked at Rotterdam port in the Netherlands and felisdu port in Britain.

It is reported that the "Changci" has unloaded 18300 containers at Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Philips Du in the UK, Hamburg in Germany and other ports. The "Changci" left Felix sto port in Britain on August 5. After passing through the canal, the ship will sail to Singapore for maintenance, with the final destination of China.
